Rigging Systems

Inspections

AV Systems Installations conducts inspections of your stage rigging equipment to ensure compliance with OSHA 1926.550(a)(6) standards. This regulation mandates that a thorough annual inspection of hoisting machinery must be performed by a qualified individual or by a government or private agency recognized by the U.S. Department of Labor.

Employers are required to keep records of the dates and results of these inspections for each hoisting machine and piece of equipment.

Our inspections involve a formal, visual examination of the easily accessible parts of the rigging system components. This critical process effectively identifies hazardous conditions and unsafe practices within the stage area.

Inspection Procedure

  • Manufacturer specifications
  • Codes for national building, fire, and safety, such as UBC, IBC, BOCA, NFPA, and OSHA
  • Regulations from government and local districts
  • Industry standards and best practices
  • Inspector’s extensive experience and company’s long history

We will also examine clues to assess whether the current operational procedures might compromise the safety of the operator, the equipment, or anyone onstage. Our inspection covers a range of components, including blocks, cables, terminations, guides, ropes, fire curtains, tracks, scenic elements, stage curtains, motors, and lighting fixture hangings.
